Who is Ymir?


Ymir’s father was a Danish sailor that knocked up his mother and left. His mother was a Dutch prostitute that sold her body in the harbor. After Ymir was born, his mother dropped him at an orphanage saying she couldn’t take care of the boy. The mother also left a note saying that the name of the boy’s name should be Ymir Hendrik Pieter Emilsson. Emilsson being the family name of the sailor that fathered the boy.
Ymir always had a fascination for books. He often spend a lot of time in the school library, only arriving back at the orphanage at curfew. During one of these visits he found a book about witchcraft and magical rituals. He got so interested in this that he started practicing with this. When one of the caretakers of the orphanage found out, she took the books from him and punished Ymir severely.  
Ymir got so enraged by this that he gathered up his stuff and ran away from the orphanage.
When the same caretaker saw him leave she went after him to drag him back inside, However when the woman tried to do this, Ymir pulled a sharp object from the wall and used it to stab the woman. The woman died later from her injury, but by then Ymir was far gone.
Ymir was only 15 at this point and had no idea what to do. But then the war broke out. The Dutch Revolution started and as in every war, you had a lot of deserters. Some of these deserters started forming bandit groups. Ymir joined one of these groups and became a robber and thief. The leader of this group was Maarten Blotevogel, who became sort of a father figure to Ymir. During this time he killed several more people, but never more then nessecary.

Personality


·         He does not care much about others, especially not strangers.
·         He is a very straight-forward man, saying what he thinks.
·         He can get tired of interaction, though he tries his best to not show it.
·         Even though he does not care for others, he cannot stand to be alone.
·         He can be a bit greedy at times, but will back off once somebody calls him out on it.
·         He does not feel sad about killing somebody, and this worries  him.
·         He is a very logical and efficient minded person.
·         He does not panic easily.

Cause of Death


During one of the robberies, he and his comrades did, they were caught in an ambush and had to fight their way out of the place. He saw two of his comrades die before the group managed to get away. But as they were running, he heard a crossbow shot, and then everything went black. Apperently the bolt from that shot had killed him.

Struggle / Conflict


Ymir struggles with the fact that he doesn’t feel anything after killing someone. He is afraid that he is a psychopath and could snap. To prevent this he clings to logic, and wants to keep people he knows around him at all times.

·         Handicraft (He has always made his own bows for his robberies and made wants out of interest for witchcraft. Also his criminal history had him study maps and blueprints of buildings a lot to work out the best strategy to rob the place.)
