Minh Fan
Age: 22, Male, Tiger, Heterosexual?

Who is Minh?
Despite his name being a mix of Vietnamese and Chinese, Minh is actually from a different universe than Reiko, but one that shares a lot of similarities to Reiko's, only Magic was a primary difference between the two and a long line of history that links to the the creation of The Writer's world.
Now, standing in this world is a tiger who puts on the facade of wisdom and serenity in attempts to uncover some greater issue that he was not aware of within himself. He holds many regrets and has yet to master the teachings of his last life.
In his youth, Minh was known to have a very low boiling point and got into all kinds of trouble with kids in his middle and high school years. He studied under his father to learn the ways of balance and the fist, but he had a hard time understanding the true potential of the art, and thus, used a lot of it to beat up those who opposed him. His obligation to become strong and yearning for power stems throughout the years thanks to his encounters with with adventurer's guild members that criticized his potential and humiliated him on multiple occasions. At age 15, The biggest straw was snapped when his lover, a girl by the name of Mei Jian, was taken away from him when he got into a battle with a group of delinquent Adventurer's Guild member's, and he still holds that against him to this day. Mei Jian still remains captive in an unknown location and the delinquent members were never ratted out. The leader of this group was known as Zephyr, though no one knows his true identity.

At age 16, he was much more adept than he was in his earlier teen years and managed to best a lot of the top guild members he was unable to defeat beforehand, though his recklessness denied him entry into the adventurer's guild. He left high school prematurely in order to pursue greater challenges, with the option of the Adventuret's Guild taken down. He went aloft with an air of arrogance, thinking nothing else in the world could best him and he'd be able to defeat most of the guild member's he couldn't. It wasn't until age 19 did he finally meet his match at a world tournament, where he, once again, met the very man that took away his lover -- and in an act of recklessness, lead to his own defeat and forced him to reconsider his approach.
The next 3 years would be spent in the highest mountain temple with one of the greatest martial artist masters out there, Lu Tien, who stressed all of the errors in Minh's actions. He would spend those years studying and strengthening himself, in addition to understanding balance and peace of mind. There was one thing he couldn't overcome, however, was the regret of his failure that lost him Mei Jian, so despite his humble teachings and his change of character, his ambitions left a hole in his perfect self.

Personality

  • He's very calm in most situations, despite his past, but he can slip if his abilities are challenged to the limit.
  • He puts on the facade of being humble, though he holds high respect for himself and meditates to keep criticism out of his head.
  • He is interested by the workings of the world, something his teachings have taught him to appreciate.
  • He has a fascination with balance of elements and magic.
  • He believes more so in the natural world.
  • Despite his monk-like attitude, he is not above fashionable clothing.
  • His monk-like behavior is more of an act, than anything, though he does it in order to keep his head level and get something out of it. He is, in reality, much more informal than his speaking suggests.
  • He can say perverted things with a straight face, as if it were no big deal. ...And probably appreciate them as if they were no big deal.

Cause of Death
His final tournament was entered one month before his untimely demise. He knew that his archenemy was going to enter since he was given a cryptic message that underlined his intention to give back Mei Jian if he were to win.
To his surprise, Mei Jian was brought there as promised, and the tournament went under way for 2 weeks. After those two weeks, the finals came up and it was him and Zephyr. The fight went on for hours, both evenly matched in terms of skill, until the final blow was struck. Minh decided to use the powerful Dim Mak (touch of death) technique to end this once for all, but his technique failed due to a failure to channel his energy properly-- an inhibition of his ambition and rage that blocked his potential. As a result, the technique backfired and Zephyr defeated him once more with the words, "You will never be ready in this lifetime". Words that would be burned into him for the rest of his short life. He left the tournament in shame, hoping to return back to his training, when two weeks later, he finally felt the consequences of his backfired technique, and died from his heart exploding during his mid-day meditation. His death left him alone in his private mountain dojo...where he was never found or remembered.

Struggle/Conflict
Minh struggles trying to understand the words of Lu Tien, believing that everything he has been taught was taken in, but he fails to let go of some of his over-ambition and anger that hindered his progress. His quiet arrogance is also a hindering factor -- his burden is to be able to master his technique once and for all and finally gain the enlightenment he was suppose to.
