Entering Town

"I am not scary," Komali said from behind them. She had been out exploring and approached the pair with curiousity.

Illium watched from a distance, seeing Komali talking to a few people he didn't know before walking over as well, not saying anything quite yet.

Sylus jumped slightly at the sudden appearance of someone behind them. Before he had even gotten a chance to speak, someone had spoken in his turn. Sylus had known the seriousness of the word'bandit' ever since he was young. Thieves were always around the big cities, taking money from ignorant travelers, unfamiliar with the city. And he was from the country, making him all the more target worthy. 

He had felt uncomfortable with Adelaide clinging to him all day, even trying to shake her off a couple of times, but now he was pushing her back behind him. 

"What is it you want from us?"

Komali's ears were perked forward and her tail lazed from side to side. These two looked kinda like her cow friend in the town. Those horns were kind of scary though.
"I am Komali. You are dead," Komali said bluntly. Then she strolled forward and gently pet them both in turn before shaking their paws. "Now you must help Ray and all of us."

Sylus was surprised by the sudden blunt and rather grim statement made by the cat woman before him. He wasn't sure what to make of her, but this "Komali" was already walking away from them, and turning back to beckon them forward. 

He looked around, surveying the town for any hint of malice in the surroundings, but all he could find upon his inspection were groups of animalistic people, going about a rather normal looking daily routines; though it was a little barren. 

He thought about the offer, then leaned back and whispered to Adelaide, "I think we should trust her. There's not much we can do alone, anyway."

Komali twirled her tail and then turned around to look up at them. 
"What is wrong? You sick? Ray is nice. All are nice... who you?" she asked. Her ears were pricked forward but one was twisting back a little. Clearly her friendly greeting was wrong. They weren't seeming all that friendly back. The fur on her scruff started to puff out a bit.

Sylus was weary as well, though somehow excited by the new environment and the strange looking people. The two feelings in him struggled between each other for a while, and he was starting not to feel too well. 

Adelaide was looking at him with some kind of pleading look though, tugging at him to turn back while the cat woman, Komali, was still trying to prod them onward.

"What do I do?"


It was a pretty simple, though. Follow the woman and meet with her friends, or stay to fend for themselves in the approaching darkness that promised to follow the evening sunset. He stared into the sunset. It was a terrible thing, the night. He could still hear the sound of wolves in his mind. 

"...we, may not be able to live without shelter Adelaide. Maybe we should help them."

He walked toward Komali, with some kind of fear still tangled inside of him.

"Excuse us, I'm Sylus, and this is Adelaide. If we help you and your friend, would be able to get some shelter and food, in return?"

Komali thought about that for a second and looked from one to the other as if debating whether or not to take them all the way to camp. They certainly looked like they belonged her with the others but their fear was contagious and Komali could nearly taste it and her ears flattened in response without her noticing. 

"Sy...lus, Sylus." She nodded to herself when she got the name right. "A...Ade... Hm. Addy. You are Addy."

Komali looked back at the camp.

"We will be at.. attacked soon and need help getting things. We have food but what is...she... she..." She huffed her frustration as the word eluded her and she rubbed her face and groomed an ear to play off her poor speech.

You know, if we could make chips and Mountain Dew, I would totally love that. Beats having to work on things with an empty stomach.

Then again, I've only lived off instant food like ramen and easy mac for the last year. My parents always tried to drill me to become a housewife since they're all traditional like that, but really, I'm not much of a spouse, especially for a guy who's lazy.

Attacked? Sylus shook himself. It wasn't the time to be getting scared, like this. Somehow he had gotten a second chance, therefore, someone out there definitely wanted him alive.... right? 

When he heard that Adelaide, too, was hungry, he made up his mind. 

"Yes. I-I'll help you to the best of my capabilities." He thought about his new body. He felt stronger now. 

"Please take us with you."

Komali nodded. These two were kinda funny but Ray would know what to do. She spun on her paws and started leading them to camp although it looked like Ray was coming to greet them herself.

I saw the couple finally approaching, and went ahead to see them face to face, maybe to greet them if they're friendly...well, I'd hope that would be the case, otherwise I don't think having to use force would be really great for a first time experience.


H-hey there! You must be new arrivals here. I see you've met Komali? If she's done anything a bit strange, I guarantee she means well.

I'm kind of the leader for this place, even though it doesn't look like much, though I was the first one to arrive here. I hope you don't mind it at all. 

I bowed to them humbly, recalling some of the manners I've been pressed to neglect since the first day. With all the things going on, it's rather difficult to stay on top of it, but I'm hoping it doesn't appear too try-hard or strange. Right after, I figured I'd offer the roasted fish, hoping they're not vegetarians or something of the like.
